The Highlandtown neighborhood will be receiving the new residential recycling carts being provided at no cost to residents by the City. You may have already received a post-card giving you this information or may have seen some news stories like the one here: Baltimore DPW to Provide Recycling Carts to Residents
When will the cart arrive?
Your neighborhood will be receiving their recycling carts between October 25th and November 9th.
If residents do not want one or if they want a smaller size, 311 is available to take that request.
How big is the cart?
Households will receive a 65-gallon BLUE recycling cart unless they choose otherwise. That 65-gallon cart is the same size as the standard GREEN municipal trash that residents already have. Should residents choose to not want one, they can call 311. A smaller, 35-gallon cart is also available.
Distribution
Due to the distribution of nearly 190,000 recycling carts, this entire process will take roughly 5 months to get to all city households that are eligible. This is an estimate based on how many carts can be delivered per day. Once distribution begins, we will have a better understanding of how quickly they can be delivered, which will then allow DPW to provide a better estimation to the residents and community leaders like you.
