Erick Antonio Benitez: A City of Magic Carpets

Emerging artist, Erick Antonio Benitez, the 2018 Janet and Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize winner will showcase new works in an upcoming exhibition, "The City of Magic Carpets" on view at The Gallery in Baltimore City Hall from September 24 through November 19. 

A Salvadorean-American, born in the Bronx, Benitez is a multidisciplinary artist whose work consists of installation, video, performance, sound, and painting exploring concepts of identity, culture, mysticism, and the natural world. Currently residing in Baltimore, Benitez received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2014. 

His work is included in permanent and private collections in the Baltimore-Washington, DC metropolitan area.
